When it comes to parenting we’ve all had those days where the thought of preparing dinner – which will probably end up on the floor – just seems like too much.
After struggling with this situation, a mum posted on Reddit and admitted that she felt like ‘a bad mum’ because she pulled out a very basic dinner for her kid.
But instead of the internet being a horrible and judgmental place, it was the opposite and plenty of people assured her that she’s not only a good mum, but nights like this make special memories.

“I Feel Like a Bad Mum. I’m just so overwhelmed so I gave my kid cereal for dinner. I’m sure I’m overreacting but I feel so bad. I just don’t have it in me to cook anything tonight. I’m worn out with my needy baby,” she wrote.

I think we can all admit that there are so many kids who would absolutely love that and people reassured her that it was OK.
“That’s hilarious. If that’s what makes you feel like a bad mom, I hate to tell you but you’re an amazing mom. That’s nothing! Your kid probably loved it,” replied one Redditor.
One woman admitted her kids have never grown out of this dinner and replied, “If they have full bellies, happy personalities and mum gets a win?! Who cares?! I still do this with my adult/teen kids lol. 😂 they’re only little once!”

For some people on Reddit, the post bought back memories of their own childhood.
“You’re not a bad mum, they probably loved it! My mum used to do ‘upside down day’ for us sometimes and we’d have breakfast for dinner and we LOVED it!” commented one person.

Another wrote, “I remember my mum doing that when she was super tired/overwhelmed – and we were so excited, lol! It felt like we were really getting away with something….& frankly kids need that sometimes – just a simple/unexpected treat.”
When it comes to easy dinners cereal is up there, but other mums admitted these are the nights they’ll pull out frozen meals, sandwiches or just throw together a snack plate.
The big thing a lot of people – most of who were mums themselves – saw wrong with the post is the way that mum guilt hits hard and can really make you doubt yourself as a parent.
“This post deserved a ‘shoutout to ALLLL THE MOTHER’S out there” literally the most tasking job ever,” replied one person.
And there was one user who summed it up best with this comment, “Mom guilt is an ever present crushing force. Even when it isn’t warranted.”
